The Department of Humanities, being part of the Prof. M.A.Bonch-Bruevich Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications (www.sut.ru), was founded in 1966. The University of Telecommunications is engaged in training highly qualified specialists in different fields of communication, such as radio, television, multi-channel systems of communication, satellite, cellular and other technologies

Nowadays the Department of Humanities teaches in two specialties: Public Relations and Area Studies, with over 500 students being taught. In addition, some other short-term programs are provided, such as teaching foreign languages, training guide-interpreters, getting the second higher education etc.

Since 1966 the Department of Humanities has been the member of the professional corporate organization � Russian Association of Public Relations (RAPR), and since 2003 Prof. S.A.Losev, Dean of the Department, has become the member of its North-Western division board (www.nwraso.ru).

The Department of Humanities has established contacts with some educational organizations in Scandinavia. Among them are Danderyd gymnasium, Stockholm (since 2001) and Oesterlen People's School (since 2003). The cooperation of mutual interest has been developing in several trends, such as students exchange, students conferences, teachers qualification improvement programs etc.

The Department of Humanities is developing dynamically.
